Australian Carnival of Flowers in Toowoomba

We know how wonderful flower festivals are, so when we find a new one we like to talk about it. In this case, it’s the 65th Carnival of Flowers in Toowoomba, Australia, about 80 miles west of Brisbane in the State of Queensland. The fact that Toowoomba is named The Garden City should give some clues as to why the festival took place there!

Lily flower arrangement from daFloresEvery September, the town hosts the Australian Carnival of Flowers. This cathedral and university city has more than 150 public gardens and parks, and is home to nearly 110,500 people. This is spring for Australians, of course, so the flowers are in fine fettle at this time of year.

The festival itself brought together almost 50 exhibits and a parade made from flower-covered floats. The whole thing lasts about another week, with special events planned in the parks, plus a standing fair with rides for the kids. There’s also a home garden competition, leading to some civic pride among participants.

Toowoomba has another claim to fame. Most of Australia is planted with evergreens, but this city has a fair growth of deciduous trees too, meaning it’s one of the few places on the Australian continent that you can come and see fall foliage.

DaFlores serves cities in Australia with beautiful, freshly grown flowers. Just like all the others, we insist that our florists bring in fresh flowers daily so we can fulfill all our guarantees. So if you need to send flowers to Australia, we can help.
